Real Elrathia Trilobite Fossil
Specimen Range from 7/8" - 1 1/4" Long
Trilobites (meaning 3 lobes) lived from 550-200 Million Years Ago in Cambrian, Paleozoic, and Devonian seas. The trilobites were among the most successful of all early animals, roaming the oceans for over 270 million years. Trilobites are most closely related to the chelicerates, which include the horseshoe crabs and spiders. They are now all extinct,
but their fossil remains are found in many places in the U.S. and worldwide.
Some, in the Canadian Rockies, have been found as large as 2½ feet in length.
This Species, Elrathia kingii, is a Small Species of Trilobite. Named for the Town Elrath, Alabama, Where This Species Was First Discovered. Elrathia kingii Lived During the Mid-Cambrian Period and Are One of the Most Abundant Species of Trilobite in North America
